About this document
Overview of Romanesque Architecture by Jolina Maganda is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Romanesque architecture developed in Europe during a time of increased religious interest. Churches were built in the shape of a Latin cross and used barrel vaults and Roman arches, leading to the name "Romanesque." Church buildings and art spread Christianity and housed holy relics, which believers thought had miracle-working powers and drew pilgrims. Masonry stone was the preferred building material, resulting in thick walls and small windows.
