Can I read Convergent Stakeholder Theory on EtoBox?
Convergent Stakeholder Theory by Thomas M. Jones; Andrew C. Wicks is a Business, Management and Accounting article available to read on EtoBox.
What is Convergent Stakeholder Theory about?
We describe two divergent approaches to stakeholder theory-a social science approach and a normative ethics approach-and examine their differences and similarities. Since neither approach is complete without the other, we propose a new way of theorizing about organizations: the development of normatively and instrumentally sound convergent stakeholder theory. This form of theory is explicitly and unabashedly normative, demonstrating how managers can create morally sound approaches to business and make them work. ' There is widespread agreement that an important distinction exists between legitimate and nonlegitimate stakeholders. Since a discussion of the issue here would take us too far afield, we refer the reader to Donaldson and Preston (1995) and to Mitchell, Agle, and Wood (1997).
