When she arrives, Flavia introduces her to some of the other guests, including the famous singer Signor Donati, archaeologist Professor Schotte, novelist Frank Wellington, and controversial German author Frau Lichtenfeld. Flavia has built a large house in the countryside to host talented artists and intellectuals as part of her ambition to create a refuge for creative minds.
