This study presents a strain-based post-earthquake serviceability verification method for steel frame bridge piers equipped with seismic dampers. The method evaluates the maximum response strain to ensure it meets performance Level 2 requirements according to Japanese specifications, while also comparing it to a displacement-based verification method. Results indicate that the strain-based method is more conservative and significantly improves the seismic performance of retrofitted bridge piers.
