Netflix has launched a new lower-cost $6.99/month Basic plan with ads in 12 countries, but it is facing compatibility issues. The plan is cheaper than the $9.99/month ad-free Basic plan but includes 4-5 minutes of ads per hour. However, the ad-supported plan does not currently work on Chromecast or Apple TV devices, displaying an error telling users to upgrade plans. Netflix acknowledges these issues and says Apple TV support for the lower-cost plan is coming soon.
