About this document

Cumene Production Processes Overview by Yunardi Yusuf is a document available to read on EtoBox.

There are two main processes for manufacturing cumene: 1. The UOP process uses a fixed bed reactor with phosphoric acid catalyst at 200-260°C to yield 94.8% cumene and 3.1% diisopropylbenzene. Cumene purity is 99.9% with overall yields of 97-98% with transalkylation. 2. The Monsanto-Lummus Crest process uses aluminum chloride and hydrogen chloride below 135°C to transalkylate polyisopropyl benzenes, yielding up to 99% cumene. Newer zeolite catalyst processes can yield 70-90% cumene directly and up to 99% o
