This paper develops a semi-analytical approach to model non-linear diffusive shock acceleration when both protons and heavier nuclei are accelerated. The shock structure and amplified magnetic fields are determined self-consistently, and the spectra of all particle species are calculated. Implications for the knee in the cosmic ray spectrum and gamma ray emission from supernova remnants are discussed.
