What is Ecosystems and Human Well-being : Biodiversity Synthesis about?
This report synthesizes findings from the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment's global and sub-global assessments on biodiversity and human well-being. It states that an unprecedented effort would be needed to achieve a significant reduction in the rate of biodiversity loss at all levels by 2010. This current synthesis differs from the two reports released on March 30, 2005 in that they looked at the issue broadly and in general terms. This current report focuses on the biodiversity aspects of the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment. This report will be released on Thursday, May 19 to coincide with the International Biodiversity Day, a celebration being coordinated by the UN Convention on Biological Diversity based in Montreal, Canada.
