The main merit of this study consists in that it analyzes comprehensively the __Deutsche Übersetzungen und Getichte__, the authorized part of the poet's opus, and not the posthumous and somewhat spurious publications owing to the good offices of Benjamin Neukirch. This arduous task had never been attempted before, and, as such, deserves great praise. The more so, as the authoress has lavished on it a considerable amount of scholarship, not shrinking from a stay in Wroclaw (Poland), where she was able to consult all relevant manuscripts in the archives located there.
