Dispersion in pulsed systems—I: Heterogenous reaction and reversible adsorption in capillary tubes by M.A. Paine; R.G. Carbonell; S. Whitaker is a Engineering article available to read on EtoBox.

What is Dispersion in pulsed systems—I: Heterogenous reaction and reversible adsorption in capillary tubes about?

The dispersion of a pulse of solute in a capillary tube undergoing irreversible, heterogeneous reaction or reversible adsorption at the tube wall is considered in order to test certain concepts regarding the construction of dispersion equations. To compare theory and experiment, computer experiments have been performed which indicate that the time dependence of the coefficients in a general dispersion equation may be quite complex. For sufficiently long times the computer experiments provide confirmation of the well-established Taylor-Aris result in addition to providing the first experimental proof of the Golay theory for reversible adsorption.
