What is Acromegaly with Low IGF-1 and Diabetes Case about?
This case report describes an 83-year-old woman who presented with signs of acromegaly including macroglossia, thickened skin, and enlarged hands and feet, but had low levels of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), which is unusual for acromegaly. She was found to have a growth hormone-secreting pituitary microadenoma and poorly controlled diabetes, which can lower IGF-1 levels and produce false-negative results. After achieving glycemic control, her IGF-1 levels rose above normal, confirming the diagnosis
