The study investigated the prevalence and risk factors for mast cell tumors (MCT) in dogs using electronic patient records from veterinary practices in England between 2007-2013. The results found that the overall prevalence of MCT was 0.27%, with the highest breed-specific prevalences in Boxers (1.95%), Golden Retrievers (1.39%), and Weimaraners (0.85%). The study also identified that age, insurance status, neuter status, weight, and breed were risk factors associated with MCT diagnosis in dogs.
