I read this book many years ago and enjoyed it. Recently I read it again and enjoyed it as much again. I love biographies and I love engineering and architecture, so this is a very happy combination. I have read many biographies and memoirs over the past 50-odd years and this is one of the better ones. I have also been reading books about architecture and engineering and specifically the construction of high-rise buildings. This book gave flesh to the bare bones of facts and made the people come to life.These high-rise buildings, often the epitome of modern technology, are, in fact, hand-made works of art, often requiring great skill (and courage) of the ironworkers. These buildings do not come off a production line.
