The market for it is growing by almost 50% per annum and will reach $400 billion in five years. 2 Quantum computing exploits the probabilistic behaviour of subatomic particles, producing 'qubits' instead of digital bits (1s and 0s). Google claims quantum computing can solve in minutes problems that today's most powerful supercomputer would take 10,000 years to finish. Though still in incubation, quantum computing may one day revolutionise human intellectual endeavour, especially when coupled with AI.
