About this document
Simiduia agarivorans: New Marine Bacterium by Silk Yu Lin is a document available to read on EtoBox.
A novel agarolytic bacterial strain, SA1T, was isolated from coastal seawater in Taiwan. Based on phylogenetic and phenotypic analysis, including 16S rRNA gene sequencing, fatty acid composition, and other tests, strain SA1T represents a new genus and species, for which the name Simiduia agarivorans gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. SA1T is able to hydrolyze agar and is most closely related to Teredinibacter turnerae, though it forms a distinct lineage within the Gammaproteobacteria.
