What is Understanding Point Discontinuities about?
Point discontinuities, also called removable discontinuities, occur when a function is continuous everywhere around a point except at that exact point, where there is a "hole" in the graph. This can happen with rational functions. A point discontinuity can be removed by redefining the function as a piecewise function that plugs the hole. The general limit exists at a point discontinuity because the left-hand and right-hand limits are equal.
