What is Fluralaner (Bravecto) Induces Long-Term Mortality of After A Blood Meal in Treated Dogs about?
This study evaluates the efficacy of fluralaner (Bravecto®) as a systemic insecticide against the sand fly Lutzomyia longipalpis, the primary vector of visceral leishmaniasis (VL) in dogs. Results show that fluralaner induced 100% mortality of sand flies for up to 5 months post-treatment, with efficacy decreasing to 68% at 6 months and 1.4% at 1 year. The findings suggest that fluralaner could be a viable control strategy for VL in endemic areas.
