This study evaluated tongue movements during deglutition in subjects with anterior open bites using real-time balanced turbo field echo cine-MRI. The results showed compensatory tongue functions in patients with open bites, with significant differences in tongue positioning between the open-bite group and the control group across various stages of swallowing. Dynamic MRI proved to be an effective noninvasive tool for assessing swallowing patterns in these patients.
