What is A Tiger about?

The poem describes the contrasting life of a tiger in the wild versus in captivity in a zoo. In the wild, the tiger would stalk through long grass near a water hole, hiding and waiting to catch plump deer passing by. Imprisoned in a zoo, the tiger paces restlessly in its small concrete cell, ignoring visitors, with its strength confined behind bars.
