A near drowning at age 13 turned me against the ocean. At age 18, Bob asked me to marry him on our 2nd date. I was thrilled clear up until he said, One day we will sail to the South Seas. His dream needed to be our dream, but it would take years for it to grow. In the meantime I learned to sail with his help. In our mid-fifties, Bob was working himself to death. We realized love trumped Bobs heart problem and our dream needed to become a reality. Bob took an early retirement and we sailed away. This is a story about personal growth, love and community, both existing and newly developed. We learned how taking caring of each other can overcome many problems, conflicts will occur and can be resolved. While cruising, we met other sailors with their own dreams, new friends who brought joy and fun. We all shared the incredible beauty of a Bora Bora sunset, fair winds and smooth seas, always knowing there were winds not so fair and the sea pretty angry. Little did we know how much this year would change our lives forever.
