What is Support for Children Who Are Educated at Home about?
Many thousands of children in the UK are educated at home, and the subject of support for the home-education community is debated. The National Foundation for Educational Research conducted research to examine the views of home educators about the support they receive from local authorities, other home-educating families, schools and other sources. Presenting the key findings from the research, this report discusses sources of support and the specific types of support received. The report also recommends areas where support for home-educating families could be improved. The text is intended to serve as a resource for home educators, home-education organisations, local authorities and other people and organisations involved in delivering and supporting home education. Two appendixes include: (1) Sample Information: The 20 Families Interviewed; and (2) Sample Information: The Online Survey. (Contains 7 figures and 10 tables.) [Research for this report was sponsored by the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation. For associated Research Briefing, see ED502423.]
