The DSM Screen is a compact filter that can thicken pulp to 3-4% by separating fiber as small as 100 microns. It works by distributing the flow tangentially over wedge-shaped screen bars with horizontal slots, slicing off thin layers of water and particles smaller than the slot width. Fiber longer than the slot width is retained and discharged at 34% solids. It requires low maintenance and can be cleaned during operation.
