Can I read Mihail Mitrea: Tradition and transformation on EtoBox?

Mihail Mitrea: Tradition and transformation by Görge K. Hasselhoff is a Arts and Humanities article available to read on EtoBox.

What is Mihail Mitrea: Tradition and transformation about?

At first sight, this carefully edited volume has little to do with Transcultural Studies. It collects ten articles whose earlier drafts were presented at a conference at the Central European University in 2013 and one article presented at a conference in Belgrade in 2012. Each article focuses on one cultural or religious area. Nonetheless, the perspective of the articles taken together is transcultural. The regions in focus centre on the Eastern Mediterranean in Late Antiquity (six articles) and the Middle Ages (five). Although the articles on Antiquity are most valuable -Nicholas J. Ellis ("Tradition and transformation in ancient Jewish cosmology and biblical interpretation", p. 20-39) describes transformation processes within Greek-speaking Judaism 1 ; Máté Veres ("Uses and misuses of the common concepts strategy in emperor Julian's 'Contra Galilaeos'", p. 40-55) scrutinizes emperor Julian's anti-Christian work Contra Galilaeos; Nirvana Silnović ("The iconography of the Mithraic tondo from Salona revisited", p. 56-75) analyzes the iconography of a Mithraic tondo from Salona; Hajnalka Tamás ("Martyrdom and episcopal authority. The bishop-martyr in Pannonian hagiography", p. 76-91)
