Can I read Sesquiterpene Lactones in Tissue Culture of Lactuca virosa on EtoBox?

Sesquiterpene Lactones in Tissue Culture of Lactuca virosa by Anna Stojakowska; Janusz Malarz; Wanda Kisiel is a Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology article available to read on EtoBox.

What is Sesquiterpene Lactones in Tissue Culture of Lactuca virosa about?

Guaiane-type sesquiterpene lactones, often in glycosidic form, are characteristic secondary metabolites for some genera of the tribe Lactuceae (Asteraceae). Analgesic, antitussive, and sedative properties of Lactuca virosa L. have been ascribed to the presence of these compounds (1). We have examined callus and cell suspension cultures of the plant with respect to their capability to produce sesquiterpene lactones. So far, little has been known from the literature about the biosynthesis of these compounds in tissue cultures (2-4).
