This thesis proposes a computer vision-based barcode reading system. It first develops a Fast Hough Transform Approximation method to localize barcodes in images. It then improves image quality using B-spline smoothing and super-resolution techniques to decode the barcode data via match filtering. The system is tested on images of barcoded products captured with different cameras. Experimental results demonstrate the barcode localization and decoding capabilities of the proposed system.
