What is Congenital Dengue Infection Insights about?

This case report describes a congenital dengue infection in an 8-day-old newborn. The newborn presented with fever and was found to have NS1 antigen positive, thrombocytopenia, and hepatosplenomegaly. The mother was diagnosed with dengue fever 4 days after delivery. Over the course of treatment, the newborn developed respiratory distress and pleural effusions as platelet counts fell. Congenital dengue infection can present atypically in newborns and may have prolonged thrombocytopenia. Vertical transmission
