What is Understanding Case-Control Studies in Epidemiology about?
A case-control study identifies possible causes of a disease by comparing exposures in individuals who have the disease (cases) to individuals who do not have the disease (controls). The study identifies two groups - cases who have the disease of interest and controls who are comparable but disease-free. Exposures are then determined retrospectively for both groups to identify how they differ with respect to factors that may be associated with the disease.
