What is Arrival of the Spaniards in 1521 about?

Ferdinand Magellan and his fleet landed on the Philippine Islands in 1521, with the primary goal of finding a westward route to the Spice Islands. Magellan was killed in the Battle of Mactan on the island of Mactan, and only 18 of the original crew returned to Spain in 1522. Antonio Pigafetta, the historian aboard the ship Victoria, documented the voyage and presented a book about it to King Carlos upon their return.
