About this document

Carbonate Analysis and CO2 Volume Measurement by Test Test is a document available to read on EtoBox.

This experiment analyzed a calcium carbonate sample to determine its percentage by mass and calculate the molar volume of carbon dioxide gas produced. Hydrochloric acid reacted with the calcium carbonate sample, producing carbon dioxide gas that was collected by displacing water in a graduated cylinder. The mass lost from the reaction was used to calculate the moles of carbon dioxide produced. Measurements of the gas volume, temperature and pressure allowed calculation of the molar volume of carbon dioxide
