Nick takes Brooklyn, Cyrano, Gina, Gustave, Jerry, Solo, and Tim on their regular 6-mile walk along the Union Canal from Ratho. The weather is very bad with snow, hail, and high winds. Along the walk, Cyrano falls in the canal but climbs out, and some of the dogs play on the steep canal banks. They encounter a passing canal boat with passengers waving at the dogs. By the end of the walk, the dogs are tired and wet, but cheer up when they return to Ratho where the colorful boats are moored.
