What is Rizal about?

Rizal was tried twice for the same crimes. In 1892, he was arrested and deported to Dapitan without a proper trial based on accusations of anti-Spanish writings and organizing illegal groups. In 1896, he was brought to trial again for the same charges and executed by firing squad, violating the principle of double jeopardy which prevents multiple trials for the same offense. The double jeopardy defense argues that a person should not face punishment twice for the same criminal acts. Rizal
