What is Dinorwig Case Study about?
This case study relates to both block 4 and block 5, and the block 5 Readings, Fail-Safe. In this text we will turn away from the forensic engineering processes that identify the cause of a failure, and look at the application of this knowledge in designing components against failure. The example chosen to illustrate this is one of materials selection taken from the design of a safety-critical part of the pipework for the Dinorwig pumped storage plant.
