This paper examines explicitation in translation from English to French. The study analyzed translations in two corpora, insurance documents and company reports. Results showed greater explicitness in the translations through improved cohesion, coherence and linking words. Explicitness derived from raising subordinate information to principal structures. There was no evidence of explicitation through more precise vocabulary.
