About this document
Boston Keratoprosthesis Overview by liya is a document available to read on EtoBox.
The Boston Keratoprosthesis is the most widely used artificial cornea. It consists of three components - a front plate, back plate, and titanium locking ring. The device replaces a damaged cornea and provides a treatment option for conditions not amenable to standard corneal transplant. Postoperative management requires lifelong close follow-up, topical antibiotic prophylaxis to prevent infection, use of a bandage contact lens to prevent corneal melt, and topical steroids to prevent inflammation.
