What is Medusa about?

Medusa was once a beautiful young woman envied by goddesses and desired by gods. However, Athena became jealous and cursed Medusa, transforming her into a monstrous gorgon. Medusa now has snakes for hair and claws instead of hands, and her gaze turns those who look at her into stone. Neither Medusa nor her two sisters can break the curse that has haunted them for millennia. Medusa laments her fate but spares her audience from turning to stone.
