A range extension of Nizamuddinia zanardinn (Schiffner) P. C. Silva is reported. Previously only recorded from the Arabian Sea coasts of Oman and Yemen, and from Pakistan, a recent survey of the Socotra archipelago has discovered extensive areas of this species on Socotra, and a small area on the island of Semha. This is the first record of any macroalga from the Socotra archipelago. Marked temporal differences in the growth cycles of the Arabian and Socotran populations of Nizamuddinia are described.
