What is Radio Link Timeout in GSM Systems about?

This document describes the Radio Link Timeout (RLT) parameter which sets the time for disconnecting a call if the mobile station fails to decode messages over the dedicated channel. The counter decreases by 1 for each missed message and increases by 2 for each received message, and the call is disconnected if it reaches 0. The recommended value is 36 times which corresponds to 17,280 milliseconds or 28.8 seconds. Modifying this parameter has no impact on equipment or interrupts service.
