Joanne Rowling, better known as J.K. Rowling, was born on July 31st 1965 in England. She wrote fantasy stories as a child and conceived the idea for Harry Potter in 1990 while delayed on a train from Manchester to London. After moving to Portugal to teach English, she gave birth to her daughter Jessica in 1993. Her books have sold over 400 million copies worldwide and been adapted into a popular film series.
