Architecture is protected under copyright law in India. The Copyright Act of 1957 was amended in 1994 to define architecture as a "work of architecture" including any building or structure with an artistic character or design. Copyright subsists in the artistic character and design of a building located in India, but not the processes or methods of construction. The owner of an architectural copyright can assign rights to others in writing, and has copyright for their life plus 60 years after death. Reconst
