What is EPR studies of the vitamin K1 semiquinone radical anion. Comparison to the electron acceptor A1 in green plant photosystem I about?
Suggestions that the electron aeceptor, A t , in Photosystem I is a quinone have come from both optical and epr experiments. Vitamin Kl (phylloquinone) is present in the PSI complex with a stoichiometry of two molecules per reaction center. In order to determine if A t can be identified with vitamin Kt, X-band and Q-band epr properties of the vitamin Kt radical anion in frozen alcohol solutions are examined. The results are compared to the epr properties that have been observed for the reduced At acceptor/n vivo. The g-values obtained for the vitamin K~ radical anion are consistent with identifying A~ with vitamin K t .
