What is Ashwagandha: Medicinal Uses & Cultivation about?
Ashwagandha, also known as winter cherry, is a plant in the Solanaceae family native to India and North Africa. It has several medicinal uses in Ayurveda and Unani medicine systems. The roots and leaves contain alkaloids that have anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor and antibiotic properties. It is commonly used to treat general weakness, arthritis, skin diseases, and stress. Ashwagandha grows best in sandy loam soils and a semi-arid climate, and cultivated varieties produce 400-500 kg of roots and 50 kg of seeds
