What is Aetas: Indigenous Culture and History about?
The Aetas are one of the earliest groups of people to inhabit the Philippines, arriving around 30,000 years ago via land bridges from Asia. They are dark-skinned with curly hair and an average height below 5 feet. Traditionally, the Aetas practiced hunting and gathering as well as herbal medicine. They faced resistance from Spanish colonizers who tried to settle them and continue to face challenges of displacement, marginalization, and poverty today as an indigenous group in the Philippines.
