What is Dog Bites Man about?

Eldon Hoagland, a political science professor at Columbia, is elected mayor of New York City on a Democratic ticket. After a rather credible term in office, a highly intoxicated Eldon returning from a boozy reunion steps on the leg of a pit bull urinating at the curbonly to get attacked and bitten. The animal is shot at by his bodyguards and with no witnesses aroundthe mayor decides to keep mum about the incident. The dog's socially prominent owner, Sue Nation Brandberg, enlists the aid of a sleazy publisher to track down the culprits. All hell breaks loose when the story breaksanimal rights crusaders and the clergy joining the fray. Will Hoagland admit his mistake and receive a just punishment for his unforgivable act? Fiction
