Taylor Barton conducted an experiment to observe how tomatoes degraded over six days when stored in different bag conditions. On day one, all tomatoes were in good condition. By day six, tomatoes stored in plastic bags without holes were very squished and brown, while those in paper bags without holes had mostly burst open and smelled bad. Tomatoes stored in plastic bags with holes or paper bags with holes remained in better condition overall through the six days of observation.
