Can I read Mineral Deposits, Continental Drift and Plate Tectonics (Benchmark Papers in Geology, V. 44) on EtoBox?

Mineral Deposits, Continental Drift and Plate Tectonics (Benchmark Papers in Geology, V. 44) by J. B. Wright is a science book available to read on EtoBox.

What is Mineral Deposits, Continental Drift and Plate Tectonics (Benchmark Papers in Geology, V. 44) about?

Continental drift as conceived by Wegener (1912) has become widely accepted, in principles. Sea-floor spreading and plate tectonics are considered by a majority of investigators as the mechanism involved. (These and related hypotheses are summarized and discussed by Vine & Hess, 1970; Wilson, 1970, and Coulomb, 1972, in the German literature by Kraus, 1971) The causes of drift are believed to rest in convection cells within the earth's mantle as recently described by Morgan (1972) and Nelson & Temple (1972). The new global tectonics have not remained without criticism: Meyerhoff & Meyerhoff (1972) have summarized the arguments against drift and, in particular, against sea-floor spreading and plate tectonics. Keith (1972) has even advanced the hypothesis of an opposite model implying a converging sea floor. In spite of the present authors' general acceptance of drift, no specific cause for it is supported in the following, and composition of crust and mantle as well as isostasy remain unconsidered. Furthermore, mineral deposits described below need not form exclusively in the course of continental drift but may originate elsewhere and at other times under a favorable interaction of
