What is Islanding Detection for Converter-Based DGs about?

This document presents a new islanding detection scheme for converter-based distributed generators in a microgrid. The proposed scheme uses an index called superimposed impedance (ΔZ) which has a low steady-state magnitude during grid-connected mode and a high magnitude during islanded mode. It can quickly detect an islanding event within 0.24 seconds while differentiating it from a fault event, which has very low magnitudes for both ΔZ and PCC voltage except for initial transients.
