About this document

Cholera: Diagnosis and Management Guide by Freddy Panjaitan is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Cholera is an acute diarrheal illness caused by the bacterium Vibrio cholerae. It spreads through contaminated food or water and causes a massive, watery diarrhea known as "rice water stool". Cholera leads to severe dehydration and death if untreated. Symptoms include profuse, gray, watery diarrhea and vomiting. Treatment focuses on rapid oral or intravenous rehydration to replace fluids and electrolytes lost through diarrhea. Antibiotics may shorten the duration of illness but are not required for recovery
