This study conducted a quantitative risk assessment of anhydrous ammonia leakage from a storage tank at Bintulu Industrial Park in Malaysia. The study used the ALOHA software to model hazards from an ammonia vapor cloud, including the threat zone, flammable area, overpressure blast effects, and thermal radiation effects from jet fires or boiling liquid expanding vapor explosions (BLEVEs). Based on the hazards identified, the study proposed on-site emergency plans to contain and mitigate ammonia releases.
