What is Lower Aft Pylon Fairing Overview about?

The lower aft pylon fairing (LAPF) serves three purposes: to provide thermal protection to the pylon from engine exhaust gases, to smooth protrusions with minimal aerodynamic drag, and to prevent leakage of fan exhaust gases into the fairing interior. The LAPF is located under the pylon box and is made of Inconel 718, light alloy, and titanium. It is attached to the engine pylon with screws and captive nuts and to the pylon core cowl fairing and firewall structure at its forward end.
