About this document

Understanding Hindu Identity and History by Jonah Pang is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Hindu refers to the religious and cultural systems indigenous to India. The two main forms of Hinduism are Shaivism and Vaishnavism. While early Hindu texts like the Vedas and Upanishads did not use the term "Hindu", the word has a long history of usage by outsiders to refer to people from the Indian subcontinent, including by Greeks ("Indos"), Persians, and Arabs ("Hindus").
